"When misguided public opinion honors what is despicable and despises what is honorable, punishes virtue and rewards vice, encourages what is harmful and discourages what is useful, applauds falsehood and smothers truth under indifference or insult, a nation turns its back on progress and can be restored only by the terrible lessons of catastrophe." … Frederic Bastiat

Evil talks about tolerance only when it’s weak. When it gains the upper hand, its vanity always requires the destruction of the good and the innocent, because the example of good and innocent lives is an ongoing witness against it. So it always has been. So it always will be. And America has no special immunity to becoming an enemy of its own founding beliefs about human freedom, human dignity, the limited power of the state, and the sovereignty of God. – Archbishop Chaput

Happy "What is Left of our Independence" Day

To all my American readers - after this week's convoluted reasoning from the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, I wonder what really is going to be left of our Independence.

Just be careful not to breath too deep of a sigh - the EPA is liable to come a knocking on your door fining you for emitting excessive amounts of that nasty pollutant, otherwise referred to as Carbon Dioxide.

If you happen to have the misfortune of residing in New York City, no sense in trying to drown your sorrows in a nice big giant cup of Mountain Dew. Nanny Bloomberg has seen to that.

I keep waiting for the Underwear and Sock Police to start passing out tickets for non-compliance with the officially sanctioned color coordinated guidelines.

We are fast becoming slaves in the land of our forefathers.

ohh, and whilst they are throwing stun grenades into your living room, you sure as hell better not be holding a cup of coffee beyond the allowed size.

  3. Please Dan....Can we not be so simplistic. Fat people and diabetics are draining us financially with their medical care. Time to be fiscally conservative and compassionate. We drew the line on cigarettes, banning smoking in restaurants etc. Same principle with fat/death making foods.

    1. GJ said "Fat people and diabetics are draining us financially with their medical care."

They are draining us because we allow it. We force emergency rooms to accept anyone without regard to ability to pay, which has a couple obvious problems:
      1) illegals show up ready to give birth and get $15,000+ of care at no cost to themselves
      2) charity hospitals, often aligned with churches, have become extinct - forced out by the gov't.

Don't forget it is federal law making it illegal to import medical devices and drugs from Canada. Why?... because the medical industry lobbyists paid Congress to make it illegal. Thus we may significantly more than other countries for the same drugs. AMERICA SUBSIDIZES the world!

Bush's Part D prescription plan for seniors really got the ball rolling for "free" medicine. When the gov't pays, the gov't then regulates. Now the gov't is regulating to control costs of these "free" programs.

      Allow competition.

    2. And don't believe Romney will change this. He implemented insurance mandates in Massachusetts.

Obama and Romney are brothers from another mother with similar health care views. And they both believe in endless foreign intervention. And they both supported TARP bailout and the private cartel Federal Reserve.

      Romney supports socialized medicine http://youtu.be/CyIXuce36gM

  4. GJ - if we didn't insist on socialized medicine (via the insurance companies) - those overweight and diabetic would be draining themselves financially. I don't know why people like you insist that people like me should pay for your bad habits (by asking the nanny state to impose sanctions). I think it's time you (and people like you) looked in the mirror. You're part of the problem - but I'm not holding my breath for you to come to your senses. Flame on.

  8. Dan,

It is just plain hard to survive this Socialist barrage of BS. I used to think the "conspiracy theorist" were crazy. Mark Levin had a great radio show that exposed Axlerod today. He is just another Socialist, like the Obama's, Soros, Pelosi's, and most of our current political leaders on the left. Combine them with the wonderful elite bankers we have in "colluding" on interest rates, MF Global and Corzine and JPM "colluding" to stealing from farmers and other hedging companies and I am starting to believe we have a real fight going forward. Dan, thank you for your comments, when the proverbial S hits the fan, I will be ready with the most precious metal of them all...LEAD!!!! and lots of it. I will give it freely to any and all Socialists. Special..come and get it..
